Escape to Guard
(Bottom of side control, with gi)

A Technique from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

These techniques should only be practiced with the supervision of an experienced instructor.
Practicing the moves incorrectly could result in serious bodily injury or death.

My opponent begins by holding me in side control. I first make sure he cannot come over to mount by raising my right leg.
I start my escape by reaching both my hands under his arms and onto my hips.
I then turn my body towards him and escape my hips outward.

Once enough space is created, I slide my right shin across his belt line and face him, so that our bodies are in line.
I then place my feet on his hips and control both his arms with my hands.
I then close my guard around my opponent, completing the escape.
